Starting up a business or reinvigorating an existing company is best done by a fair amount of advertising, and the best way to get your business known or keep it in the minds of people in your market is through word of mouth. When you have a happy customer who then tells other people to either purchase your product or obtain your services, you have not only had the cheapest marketing that is available, but also the most effective. People trust who gives them the best advice and when you treat them as well as you treated the person who referred them, you have a lifelong customer.
One of the greatest ways to get your name on the tongues and in to the brains of potential new customers is through event marketing. When people can see your product in action or view your services being rendered in real time it is exciting. They tend to feel like they are part of the process and want to then engage everyone they know. If you can get people to come to these events they will be more likely to recommend your business to those that need it in the future and you have then got customers for life.
Another term for event marketing is experiential marketing which means the customer or potential client has the opportunity to actually experience the product you are trying to sell them. They can touch, taste, hear, smell, and see it in action. This will not only heighten their interest in it, but give them the chance to see how it will work in their daily lives and how they can use it to their advantage. When a customer or potential purchaser has the opportunity to actually “play” with the merchandise they can really get a feel for what it can do for them and why they need to buy it.
Not only can the potential client learn all about the product through the experience you have set up for them, but they can envision how the people they know might use it and love it as well. When they tell their friends and family about the amazing product they have purchased they will also outline all of the ways they use it to benefit their daily lives. Their loved ones will see their energy and how excited they are and want to go right out and purchase one for themselves.
When word of mouth advertising is engaged, it doesn’t matter what the market economy looks like, all that matters is the walking billboard you have created in a very happy customer. Having them experience the product before they buy it is a sure way of getting them excited about it and knowing more than they would just walking in to your store. Events catering to the clientele you want to attract are a great way to spend money on marketing instead of commercials that might not be drawing the demographic you require or actual billboards that might not add up to the kind of revenue you need for sustainability. A person’s recommendation is better than any print you could buy.
